Party Wall Act 1996
The party wall act 1996 came into force on the 1st July 1997. It is an act that gives building owners the right to work on their party walls.
With a loft conversion it is usual to lay the steels on their side of the party wall.
This is allowed.
One does however have to give their neighbours 2 months notice.
